Born in Bilbao and living in Ireland since 1990, Iñaki specialises in architectural photography and shares with many photographers his absolute passion for the Guggenheim Museum in his native city. His interest in photography started during his school years,
when he experimented with different photographic genres and styles through the medium of film and slide.
In 2018 Iñaki received a Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society (FRPS) with a new body of work that displayed an innovative approach into the study of minimalism, shape and form in architectural photography. This is the highest level of distinction awarded by the RPS
and was awarded under the category of Fine Art.
The Royal Photographic Society describes the Fellowship as "our highest level of Distinction - a submission that demonstrates a distinctive and distinguished body of work using the highest level of technical ability, techniques and photographic practices appropriate to the subject".
In 2013 Iñaki received a Fellowship of the Irish Photographic Federation (FIPF) for his work in architectural photography. This is the highest level of distinction awarded by the IPF and Iñaki is the first photographer to have received an FIPF with a panel of architectural photography.
Two Fellowships by two different photographic organisations with two very diverse and distinctive bodies of work confirm Iñaki as a highly experienced and respected architectural photographer. These achievements not only validate his technical ability but also his skills in
panelling as well as his mastery with challenging compositions, use of light, postprocessing and printing techniques.
Over many years, Iñaki has presented his work at numerous events and has acted as a judge nationally and internationally: from the most renowned photographic societies in Ireland and the United Kingdom, to FIAP level and international architectural competitions.
Iñaki has presented his work on multiple occasions for the Royal Photographic Society both in the UK and in Ireland, including at RPS headquarters in Bristol. He has also presented for the RPS Western Region, for the RPS Creative Eye Group, for RPS India and for the RPS Visual Art Group where he also ran architectural photography workshops in Liverpool.
A highly respected speaker and judge, Iñaki has photographed some of the most renowned buildings in the world. These include the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, the Walt Disney Concert Hall in L.A., the City of Arts & Sciences in Valencia, Berlin's Reichstag and the Milwaukee Art Museum to name but a few.
A regular workshop leader he has taken multiple groups of very experienced photographers on international workshops. His images have received numerous accolades both nationally and internationally.
Iñaki has served as a member of the Distinctions Committee of the Royal Photographic Society and currently serves as an assessor in the Visual Art panel for Associate and Fellowship distinctions.
